Marc Surers career is one of those “What might have beens” in motor racing. He worked his way up from Formula Vee and Formula 3 to become a member of the infamous “BMW Junior team” in 1977. With BMWs support he climbed the next step on the ladder into Formula two, to become European champion in 1979. Sadly his Formula One career never blossomed, as he broke his legs twice in nasty accidents both times in practice shunts in Kyalami 1980 and 1982.
A thoroughly racer, he was always keen to show his talent in touring and sports car races. In 1979 he competed in the legendary BMW ProCar series in this M1 with the striking red and white “Buler watches” livery.
