More than 35 years after Bellofs record, Porsche works driver and Nordschleife intimate Timo Bernhard set out in a specially prepared evolution of the Le Mans winning Porsche 919. Not bound to any rules, Porsche wanted to show what is possible, if engineers are not limited by rule books. The Evo version of the Porsche 919 Hybrid was based on the Le Mans overall winning car and WEC endurance world champion of 2015, 2016 and 2017. It has been freed from some regulatory restrictions and its hybrid drive train generated a system output of 1160 hp. The Evo weighs just 849 kilograms and its modified, active aerodynamics generated over 50 percent more downforce compared to the WEC model. The top speed at the Nürburgring was an insane 369.4 km/h.
